Organ Donation - Make an Informed Decision

It may be that you have no issue with automatically being an organ donor, but are you are aware of the practice of taking organs out of people whilst they are still alive.

The Express has today reported that the legislation making people automatic organ donors in England has come into force.

A question to the reader, would you for example want your heart being taken out whilst you were alive?

That's what can happen according to this article:

I do warn you that the information within that article is quite harrowing.

One comment quoted tells us that anaesthesia is used during organ donation to keep the patient alive and to keep the organs healthy and that typically the only anaesthetic given is a muscle relaxant. Another contributor quoted says that paralysis drugs are also used to stop the body moving (or perhaps resisting). The concept spoken of here sounds monstrous to me. Are we to take it that people are being treated in a manner akin to some sort of ritual disemboweling whilst alive and only given a muscle relaxant? To me we are getting into the territory of murder here. For someone to exit this life in such a manner is absolutely horrific to me.

If we take the above comments as true and as always if a reader has evidence to the contrary, please let me know then it is just horrible.

A comment from Dr Byrne in the article even details a time prior to the paralysis agent being used when he made an incision and the man threw both his arms out in response. I contend that perhaps those who organs are harvested in die in absolute agony.

The option to opt out is available here:

You will note they have framed this in a rather negative way using the terminology "Refuse to Donate".

Personally I find it unacceptable that someone else should think they can just take the organs of another without consent. What do you think?

Do not fear as a result of this article; I am not trying to induce fear. The option to protect yourself is there I am merely bringing it to your attention.

May God bless you all.
